A Lekha invitation is a designed invite with a shareable page where guests RSVP Yes, Maybe or No. Guests don't need an account or the app, and you track every reply on one live guest list. This guide walks through creating, sending and managing an invitation, and explains each event setting.
Create an invitation
Tap Create (and choose Invitation if you're asked). The wizard has four steps, then a confirmation screen:
- Template & Cover: choose a template, upload your own image or take a photo, or create a design with AI. Use Customize Design to edit the text and look.
- Event Details: event name, date, start time (required) and an optional end time, location, Hosted by and a description. You can also add food & drinks, parking and a host contact number, and mark it as a multi-day event.
- Add Guests: add each guest's name with an email or phone number, import contacts in the mobile app, or reuse a past guest list. This step is optional: you can add guests later, or just share the link.
- Review & Send: preview the invitation, set the RSVP & guest settings and reminders, then tap Send Invitation, Schedule Send to send at a set time, or Save Draft.
After sending you'll see Copy Invitation Link, Share via WhatsApp and Track RSVPs.
Send it: email, text, WhatsApp or a link
- Email: every guest you added with an email gets the invitation, with their own personal RSVP link.
- Text: turn on texts to also send the invitation by text to guests with a phone number (US and Canada only).
- WhatsApp: tap Share via WhatsApp and pick a chat or group. The invitation shows as a preview card with your cover image.
- Link or QR code: copy the event link and paste it anywhere, or share the QR code so people can scan to RSVP.
- Later: use Schedule Send to send at a date and time you pick.
Guests on your list get personal links, so their replies match them on your list. Anyone who opens the shared event link can RSVP too, unless you turn on Invite Only.
How guests RSVP
- Open the invitation from the email, text or shared link. No account and no app download.
- Tap Yes, Maybe or No. Maybe appears only if you allow it.
- Fill in a short form: their name and email, how many adults and kids are coming, any dietary needs and your custom questions.
- Get a confirmation by email.
- Change their reply later: they open their invitation link again and tap Change, as long as RSVPs are still open.
After replying, guests can optionally create a free account to keep their RSVPs in one place. It's never required.
RSVPs close when an enforced RSVP deadline passes, when the event is full, when the event ends, or if the event is cancelled.
Your guest list and tracking replies
Open the event from My Invitations to see replies in real time:
- Counts of Accepted, Maybe, Declined and Pending, and the total attending (adults and kids).
- Each guest's reply, party size, dietary notes and answers to your questions, plus a separate list of people who RSVPed through the shared link.
- Whether each invitation was sent, is scheduled, or failed.
- Add Guest, resend an invitation, or remove a guest.
- Download the RSVPs as a CSV, or copy the guest list.
- Copy the event link or share its QR code.
Reminders
Turn on Remind guests on the Review & Send step, or later in Event Settings. Pick one or more times: 1 week, 3 days, 24 hours or 2 hours before the event. The default is 24 hours before.
- Reminders go by email to every guest who hasn't declined. Guests who haven't replied yet are asked to RSVP.
- In Event Settings, turn on Also text reminders to also text guests who agreed to texts.
Guest messages and announcements
- Guests tap Messages on the invitation to read the event wall and send a private message to you. They need to RSVP before they can post.
- You open Messages on your event to see the Wall and your Inbox, and to post an Announcement to everyone who RSVPed or only to the Yes RSVPs, optionally also sent by email. You can delete messages from the wall.
- Turn guest messages off with Allow guests to send messages in Event Settings.
Event settings explained
Set these on the Review & Send step, or any time from your event's Event Settings:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Invite Only | Only guests with their personal invite link can RSVP. Forwarded or shared links won't work. |
| RSVP Deadline | The date replies are due. Without enforcing it, guests see that the deadline has passed but can still respond. |
| Enforce RSVP Deadline | Stops new RSVPs once the deadline passes. |
| Allow “Maybe” Response | Shows a Maybe button. When it's off, guests can only accept or decline. |
| Allow Plus-Ones | Lets guests bring additional people, up to the Maximum Plus-Ones Per Guest you set. |
| Maximum Capacity | Closes RSVPs when this many people are coming. Leave it blank for unlimited. |
| Guest List Visibility | Visible: guests see the full guest list. Count Only: numbers, no names. Hidden: only you and co-hosts see it. |
| RSVP Visibility | All Guests: everyone can see who replied. Host Only: only you and co-hosts see responses. |
| Guest Messaging | Lets guests post on the event wall and message you. |
| Remind Guests | Sends reminders at the times you pick (see Reminders). |
| Custom Questions | Ask guests for extra details on the RSVP form, like meal choices. |
Kids-only events
For a party where kids are the guests, choose Kids only under Who's invited? on the Event Details step. Parents then RSVP for their children by name, with options for siblings and parents staying. Read the kids-only events guide.
Co-hosts
Share the work with up to 5 co-hosts. In Event Settings, open Co-Hosts, tap Add Co-Host and enter their email. If they don't have a Lekha account yet, they get an email invitation to sign up.
- Co-Host: helps manage the event with you.
- Viewer: can see the event and its replies, but can't change things.
You can remove a co-host, or cancel a pending invitation, at any time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do my guests need the Lekha app or an account to RSVP?
No. Guests open the invitation link in any browser and tap Yes, Maybe or No. Creating an account afterwards is optional.
Can a guest change their RSVP?
Yes. They open their invitation link again and tap Change, as long as RSVPs are still open.
How do I share an invitation on WhatsApp?
After sending, tap Share via WhatsApp, or copy the event link and paste it into any chat. The invitation shows as a preview card with your cover image.
Can I send the invitation later?
Yes. On the Review & Send step, choose Schedule Send and pick a date and time.
When do RSVPs close?
When an enforced RSVP deadline passes, when the event reaches its maximum capacity, when the event ends, or if you cancel it.
What does Invite Only do?
Only guests with their personal invite link can RSVP, so a link forwarded to a group chat won't work. Turn it off if you want anyone with the event link to RSVP.
Who gets reminders?
Every guest who hasn't declined, by email at the times you pick (24 hours before by default). Guests who agreed to texts can also get a text if you turn on Also text reminders.
Can someone help me manage my event?
Yes. Add up to 5 co-hosts by email in Event Settings, as a Co-Host who helps manage or a Viewer who can only look.
